the first kiss
by Luminita Suse
soldiers pass freely
through the Brandenburg Gate
Unter Den Linden
delirious with uniforms
from east to west, the cold war
is over
the parade stretches across
Alexanderplatz
jackhammers crumble The Wall
into transparency
touched by lindens, our silhouettes
fuse into a smoke signal
Fräuekirche rises from ruins
pointing to the sky, a cannon
blue bursts into fireworks, lips
squeeze for strawberries
